November 2016 Newsletter



Happy Fall!  I don't know about you, but it has been usually warm this fall around where I live. In fact I took my kids trick-or-treating last night without a jacket! I can't believe Thanksgiving is already around the corner!

Like usual, Beachbody has a lot going on this November in order to keep you and me excited to get up and workout everyday.  I'm particularly looking forward to an awesome new program, Core de Force, that just came out; new yoga workouts, Body Beast, and Insanity Max:30 being added to the member library on Beachbody on Demand; and there is going to be the big bi-annual SALE the week of November 21st!


CHALLENGE GROUPS


Core de Force is now available and Team Tenacity is putting together a challenge group for our customers starting December 5th with daily support, weekly giveaways, and nutritional coaching featuring this new program or any other program you want to use that doesn't use equipment.  

Core de Force is 30 day program that is geared to providing you a total body transformation.  It combines HIIT cardio workouts with body weight strength training workouts that all use MMA style training moves that are unique and highly effective.  There have been some amazing transformations in the test groups and we are super excited to put this program to the test!

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 scoop Vanilla Shakeology 
  • 1 Tbsp. canned pumpkin puree
  • ½ tsp. ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 scoop Digestive Health Boost (optional)

Instructions: 

  1. Place almond milk, ice, Shakeology, pumpkin puree, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice in blender; cover. 
  2. Blend until smooth.

October 2016 Newsletter




Fall is here and we are looking forward to the holiday season starting with Halloween at the end of the month! Now is the time to get into good, healthy habits that will carry us through the rest of the year so we can feel our best and enjoy our time with our friends and family without obsessing about food.  We have two great challenge groups created to support you during this busy time!


This time of year with back-to-school activities and getting ready for the holiday season is very exciting, but it can also take a toll on us leaving us irritable, tired, and feeling gross from stress, not getting enough sleep, too many sweets, and not moving in a way that feels good for our bodies.  Team Tenacity is putting together a wonderful Women's Retreat starting October 24th that will help you take out time for you so that you can be your best self during this fun time of year.  Click here for all the details!

Breaking Through The Plateau: How To Stay Motivated

WHEN YOU REACH THE PLATEAU, POWER THROUGH.
Sometimes, working hard toward your goals can feel great. And sometimes it can feel, well, like work. If you’re trying to lose weight, get healthier, improve your diet, or just feel better, hitting a plateau can be a real thing. You bust your butt, and then all of a sudden you feel like nothing is happening. Trust us, we get it. It’s not fun. So when you find yourself in a lull, use a few of these tips to power through the plateau and get back on your way to your best you.
FORGET TOMORROW, FOCUS ON TODAY
Losing momentum? Try putting the future on hold. Yep, that’s right. Forget tomorrow and focus on today. Add a few extra sit-ups. Another minute on the treadmill. A bonus powerwalk after dinner. Small additions to your routine today can put you on a better path tomorrow.
START WITH SLEEP
If you’re focused on weight loss or strength building, you’ll be surprised what you can accomplish in 8 hours. You might think your day is so packed already that you can’t possibly carve out time for a full night’s sleep. Trust us — it’s worth it. Your body needs time to recharge and rejuvenate. Plus, it will help you power through your plateau.
CHANGE IT UP
Routines can be so routine. If you’ve been doing the same workout or diet for a while, boredom might be the least of your worries. Muscles and your body can get used to the same thing, making results harder to come by. So, add something new to your routine — maybe a strength-training workout when you’re usually all for cardio, or an extra glass of water to your before-bed ritual — to shake things up a bit.
TURN IT OFF
Our lives are filled with TV time, our smartphones, our laptops, and so on. The more we read, watch, listen, and play on the small screen, the less time we’re moving our bodies. Unplug and push yourself to do something more active. Put it down, turn it off, and make room for healthier choices.
JUNK THE JUNK DRAWER
If you’ve hit a wall with your fitness gains or weight loss, there might be a culprit within easy reach. The junk drawer — the one stuffed with all the goodies you know you shouldn’t have. Even a little treat now and then can slow down your hard-fought progress. Instead, pack it with healthy treats. Your habit will still be to reach for the drawer, but what you pull out can be so much better for you.
No matter what you do, the important thing is to realize that you’ve hit your wall and you’ve got to change things up to keep on the path of progress. Your goals are reachable, and you know you can do it. The next time you hit a plateau, realize that it’s not the end of progress, but the beginning of a new process.

    Fit Recipe of the month: Peanut Butter Banana and Berry toast

    Here is a simple, delicious snack recipe for Monday :)

    Peanut Butter Banana and Berry toast

    Peanut Butter Banana and Berry Toast

    Total Time: 15 min.
    Prep Time: 15 min.
    Cooking Time: None
    Yield: 1 slice
    Ingredients:
    2 tsp. all-natural almond butter
    1 slice whole grain bread, toasted
    11 fresh blueberries
    12 fresh raspberries
    ¼ medium banana, cut in half lengthwise, cut into ½-inch slices
    Preparation:
    1. Spread almond butter evenly on toast.
    2. To create a fruit flag, place five raspberries in a line parallel to the bottom of bread.
    3. Place banana slices above raspberries.
    4. Repeat with raspberries.
    5. Place one banana slice on right side above raspberries.
    6. Place two raspberries above banana slice.
    7. Place one banana slice above raspberries.
    8. Create a square of blueberries on the upper left corner. Serve.

    Today was such a rewarding day! As the end of the month transformation stories flood in I'm overwhelmed with emotions! 

    I remember how amazing I felt after my first 30 days of taking better care of myself & it's just powerful seeing this group beam with pride! God gave me this gift, I needed a way to help & pay it all forward & 6 years later I still get to share stories like this with ALL OF you! Let me say it takes a lot of courage for my fit family to take photos let alone allow me to post them on social media!

    "Let me start off by saying I'm your average joe MOMMA! I run a household by myself while working forty hours a week and entertain twins and a fur baby.

    Before I had my sons, I had always been into sports and was pretty athletic. Let me say nutrition was lost on me. I knew it was somewhat important but never had time for it. It was always time for fast food. 
       
    Fast forward a few years and here I was doing nothing. Just eating what I wanted and not really doing anything. I maintained weight at 135 pounds. That's just the weight my body seemed to like. However I didn't like the way it was distributing itself across my body. I was sooooo not liking the "muffin" top. I was so moody and just unhealthy on the inside. And yet I had ZERO motivation or accountability to change myself.
       
    I would go through cycles of working out for a few days and then just quitting. Plain out giving up. I didn't care! 
       
    When I started working for Transit (driving 40 and 60 foot vehicles), I was so tiny compared to the vast majority of the employees. I had such a hard time getting my uniforms. I was a size 6. I started not sleeping due to bad dreams. My moods got worse. Over all I didn't want to end up like every other driver who told me how much they gained while doing this job. That was just unfair to myself and to my boys. MY BOYS who are my everything. I knew I needed a change.
      
    I contacted my friend/mentor who I had watched for 6 plus years change her life. I told her I was ready to commit and change my life. I told her that I needed to ease in and not dive. If I dove in I knew I would fail and give up and be stuck in the cycle all over again. I told her my only goals were to regulate my moods and just feel healthy again.
       
    Through a program that was only 30 minutes long for 21 days, an eating plan consisting of portion control, and an awesome shake, I had a breakthrough. I gained so much more than what I could imagine. I lost 10 pounds and more than 5 inches. My moods have changed and I got a whole night's sleep. The benefits are insurmountable.
       
    With how I felt and seeing a lot of my everyday customers with a liter of soda in their hands, I know I want to be able to benefit someone else like I have done for myself. I want to be able to give the benefits of nutrition and exercise."
